Forum 2025
On October 1–3, 2025, Saint Petersburg State University and the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) will host the seventh internationa forum “Russia and Ibero-America in a Turbulent World: From Shared Challenges to Joint Solutions”. The forum is the most representative event in Russia dedicated to the socio-political and economic processes, history, and culture of Latin America. Held in Saint Petersburg with the participation of prominent politicians, scholars, and journalists from Ibero-American countries and Russia, it consistently attracts media attention, reinforcing the status of Saint Petersburg State University as one of Russia’s leading centers of Ibero-American studies.
Goals of the 2025 Forum
1. Understanding new realities in Latin American and Spanish political and socio-economic processes.
2. Analyzing emerging challenges and opportunities for Russian-Latin American relations under current political and economic conditions.
3. Discussing Russian and Latin American approaches to shaping a multipolar world, interregional cooperation, and addressing international security issues.
4. Exploring the interaction of Latin American countries with extra-regional and extra-hemispheric actors in international relations today.
5. Assessing the current state of Russia-Latin America cooperation in humanitarian, educational, and scientific-technical fields, as well as prospects for collaboration in other global regions.
The forum serves as a modern expert and discussion platform for defining development pathways for Latin America in a globalizing world and outlining prospects for Russian- Latin American cooperation. Organizers aim to foster opportunities for critical reflection and dialogue across core social disciplines, enhancing understanding of the social, political, economic, and cultural realities of Latin American countries in today’s multipolar world.
